If you love theater and all things Broadway, there’s no place like THIRTEEN as we raise the curtain on Broadway and Beyond, must-see theater and arts programming premiering on-air, online, and YouTube.

The special programming collection features Great Performances’ “Broadway’s Best” line-up, four star-studded productions premiering on THIRTEEN, pbs.org/gperf, and the THIRTEEN and PBS apps. Stream for a limited time following each premiere date.

“Broadway’s Best” begins with the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Next to  Normal (Friday, May 9 at 9 p.m.). Caissie Levy (Broadway’s Frozen, Leopoldstadt, and Caroline, or Change) stars as a suburban wife and mother living with bipolar disorder and haunted by her past in the production, filmed during the show’s West End transfer from London’s Donmar Warehouse.

Next, enjoy a front-row seat for Yellow Face (Friday, May 16 at 9 p.m.), David Henry Hwang’s comedy from Roundabout Theatre Company starring Daniel Dae Kim – who was recently  named one of Time Magazine’s most influential people of 2025 — as an Asian American  playwright who protests yellowface casting in Miss Saigon, only to mistakenly cast a white actor as the Asian lead in his own play.

Tony-winning musical Girl From the North Country (Friday, May 23 at 9 p.m.), written and directed by Conor McPherson, features 20 reimagined songs by Bob Dylan – “Forever Young,”  “Like A Rolling Stone,” and more — and follows wayward travelers whose lives intersect in a  guesthouse filled with music, life, and hope in 1934 Duluth, Minnesota.

Great Performances’ “Broadway’s Best” concludes with Cole Porter’s classic musical comedy Kiss Me, Kate (Friday, May 30 at 9 p.m.,) starring Tony winner Stephanie J. Block (The Cher Show) in her West End debut as Lilli Vanessi and Adrian Dunbar as Fred Graham. Tony winner Bartlett Sher directs the production, filmed from the Barbican during summer 2024.

Liza Minnelli fans can enjoy a special encore of American Masters – LIZA: A Truly Terrific Absolutely True Story (Thursday, May 22 at 8 p.m.), an intimate look into the life of the stage  and screen icon. The film is also streaming free at pbs.org/americanmasters.

Enjoy Playing the Palace (Tue 13th, 9 p.m.), about the reopening of Broadway’s Palace Theater, and House Seats: Mandy Gonzalez in Concert (Tue 6th, 9 p.m.) on broadcast or streaming on the ALL ARTS app, website, and YouTube channel.

Keep up to date with the latest from THIRTEEN’s Broadway and Beyond at thirteen.org/broadway.

Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
