Your Community Needs More Therapy Dogs: Is Your Dog a Good Candidate?

Come find out at an event for humans and their dogs

  • Sunday, April 6th
  • Advent Lutheran Church — Broadway and 93rd St.
  • 3:00-5:00 pm
  • Register HERE

More Opportunities

A Fair Shake for Youth offers structured programs in middle schools in underserved communities. Or, you and your dog can visit in a hospital, at a de-stress event during college exams or help a child learn to read.

Volunteering with your dog is one of the most rewarding ways to give back. You know how much your dog brings to your own life – bring that difference to those around you.

Come learn more about training, certification, and volunteer opportunities and get a preliminary assessment of fit (Note: there are a limited number of spaces for dogs, so please sign-up early).

Therapy dogs come in all different breeds and sizes. If your dog is highly social with people, good in new situations, and knows basic obedience, you may have a therapy dog.

There is no fee to attend, but registration is required.

Questions: volunteer@afairshakeforyouth.org

This event is sponsored by A Fair Shake for Youth and All About Dogs, which serves as a consultant to Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Caring Canine Program.

Please limit comments to 150 words and keep them civil and relevant to the article at hand. Comments are closed after six days. Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate. A detailed statement on comments and WSR policy can be read here.
