Tribeca’s Beloved Family Membership Club, Cocoon, Opens on the Upper West Side

Parents of the Upper West Side, rejoice! Cocoon, the renowned family membership club that has been a staple for Tribeca families, is now open in our neighborhood. With its expansive 14,000 sq. ft. space designed for kids aged 0-8 and their families, Cocoon brings a revolutionary approach to family programming—and it’s already creating a buzz.

The newly launched location, across the street from the American Museum of Natural History, is a unique space where families can come together, enjoy exceptional programming, and create lasting memories—and with Founding Memberships almost sold out, now is the perfect time to join this vibrant community. As a local, family-owned company, Cocoon is deeply committed to creating spaces where families feel truly at home.

Why Families Love Cocoon

Cocoon has redefined what a family membership club can be. At its core, the club focuses on innovative programming that meets the needs of babies, toddlers, and kids up to age 8. From bouldering and parkour for big kids to messy art, sensory play, cooking classes, and baby music, Cocoon offers something for every age group. Our thoughtfully designed space draws inspiration from Reggio Emilia and Montessori philosophies, featuring open-ended play areas that spark imagination and creativity.

The space also hosts free daily happenings—like beloved bubble dance parties, magic shows, musical performances and story times—so there’s always something new and exciting to experience. Our Reggio Emilia-inspired programming is rooted in the use of natural materials and a curriculum developed and taught by experienced educators, ensuring a high-quality learning environment for children.

Families have discovered that Cocoon offers significant savings compared to spending on multiple play spaces and children’s gyms. Membership includes seven-day access to the expansive 14,000 sq. ft. space, with no need for advance registration. Cocoon’s events and spaces are also designed with adults in mind—from workspaces with high-speed Wi-Fi and complimentary freshly brewed coffee to an upcoming beer and wine selection.

What truly sets Cocoon apart is its growing community. Members have joined not just for the thoughtfully designed space that feels like home but also for the opportunities it provides for grown-ups and their littles to build lasting friendships in the neighborhood. Cocoon is more than a membership; it’s a place where families connect and thrive together.

The Seidel family, new members of Cocoon UWS, shared their experience:

“When we became members of the Cocoon community, we couldn’t have anticipated how integral it would become to our experience as parents on the Upper West Side. Every day there are classes and other educational happenings (bubble parties on Wednesdays are a favorite!) that we can participate in. There’s a lot to love about the space, and we’ve been impressed by how our daughter has developed skills just by having a new place to explore and learn. However, the thing we’ve appreciated most is the community and the people we’ve met since becoming members. Whether it’s other parents, caretakers, or the staff, everyone is warm and welcoming. We’re very grateful for the UWS location and look forward to spending more time there!”

Camps and Birthday Parties—For Members and Non-Members

Cocoon is also the go-to destination for unforgettable camps and birthday parties. These experiences are available to both members and non-members, with members enjoying special pricing.

Planning a birthday party? Cocoon takes the stress out of organizing, offering themed celebrations tailored to your child’s interests. From start to finish, their team handles all the details so you can relax and enjoy the day.

For camps, Cocoon provides a blend of fun and education, ensuring kids stay engaged and active during school breaks. Summer camp, designed for kids ages 3-8 years, features diverse activities aimed at sparking curiosity and creativity, making them a hit with children and parents alike.

### Cocoon Gives Back: Supporting Families During Prenatal and Postpartum Journeys

Cocoon extends its mission of community-building through its Prenatal and Postpartum program, offering free programming to families during a critical phase of parenting. By joining as members, families support these efforts, ensuring that resources and a sense of community remain accessible to all.

Join the Cocoon Community

There’s a reason why Cocoon has become a beloved fixture for families in Tribeca, and now Upper West Side families can experience the same sense of community, fun, and value. With Founding Memberships nearly sold out, this is your chance to join a space where your family can grow, learn, and make lifelong connections.

What a lovely addition to our community! Will they offer any discounts or sliding membership fee for people of lower income levels? It seems like a really great community for kids and parents, but paying $600 or $380 a month is probably cost-prohibitive for many (despite the fact that 350,000 millionaires live in NYC).

Balebusta, this is a for profit business offering nice but nonessential services. Clothing stores, restaurants and private gyms don’t generally offer discounts to low income families so why should this be different?

I hear you, and my comment was not meant to be a mandate. I would say that while this may seem a non-essential luxury service to you, that doesn’t negate the fact that kids of all economic backgrounds have a need for this kind of socialization, community and stimulation. A place such as this also functions as a “third space” {refers to the social surroundings that are separate from the two usual social environments of home (“first place”) and the workplace (“second place”); a place where people can come together to talk, relax, and create bonds}. I agree this business is under no obligation to offer a reduced fee for anyone, but I think in the spirit of community and connection it would be nice if they did. Unfortunately our govt/leadership provides very few (if any) enrichment activities/services that function on such an immersive scale as this. I am all for capitalism, we are founded on it, and I also believe that people in privilege can also open up a little space to consider those less fortunate — particularly when it involves children.

Cocoon has been apart of the community in Tribeca and a part of my family for quite some time and I’ve hosted my child’s party there. If you are planning to celebrate your child’s party even at the UWS , I would highly recommend. The quality, eye for detail and professionalism that Crystal provides has left a lasting impression and provided great memories for me and my family. I hope that 2025 will be great for Cocoon and all the families that celebrate

I have concerns that the whole see through window can allow peeping toms to watch children. Cocoon should at least have some sort of covering or privacy glass to protect the privacy of children.
