A man was robbed at gunpoint in an Upper West Side deli Monday morning, a police spokesperson confirmed to West Side Rag.
The 27-year-old man, who was a friend of the store’s manager, was within 94 Star Deli & Grocery at 714 Amsterdam Avenue, between West 94th and 95th streets, around 5:45 a.m., when a man walked in and flashed a gun, police said. The gun-toting man demanded money, and the victim handed over his backpack.
The robber then fled the store, the NYPD spokesperson added.
There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.

And so it continues and so it will continue until the Manhattan DA’s office starts treating crime seriously again and the police can start policing again…
How do you come to this conclusion?
Do you know that the backpack thief has already been arrested and released for something else?
He had a gun in this instance, bettin’ if he’s found, he’ll be charged and held.
@Jay, You assume assumptions on my part that were not stated. I didn’t say this criminal had been previously arrested. I was implying (now stating) that the Manhattan DA’s office has emboldened criminals and has added to demoralizing the police force by its failure to prosecute crimes. In the (almost) immortal words of Vincenzo ‘Tony’ Baretta, “Do the crime if you won’t do no time…”
Alfonse,
“I didn’t say this criminal had been previously arrested.”
No, but you strongly implied so.
“I was implying (now stating) that the Manhattan DA’s office has emboldened criminals and has added to demoralizing the police force by its failure to prosecute crimes.”
The evidence is thin for this claim, while there’s strong evidence the NYPD isn’t bothering with foot patrols, something that cuts down on this type of crime. Just look at the NYPD’s recent record of not enforcing traffic laws if you need another example.
Need more police, cameras
Yes, they could help with police misconduct in addition to sometimes helping to find criminals.
Bet this deli has security cameras.
