A man was attacked and robbed early Monday morning on the Upper West Side, a police spokesperson confirmed to West Side Rag.
A 40-year-old man was sitting on the sidewalk on 92nd Street between Columbus and Central Park West around 12:30 a.m., when three men jumped out of a car and approached him, police said.
One of those men took out a gun and hit the victim in the head with it, police said. The trio then took the man’s jewelry, including a Rolex watch and chain that cost approximately a combined $35,000, according to a police spokesperson.
The attackers also took an iPhone and $300 in cash from the man, the spokesperson added.
The trio then jumped back into their car and fled the scene, NYPD said. The 40-year-old man was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside hospital in stable condition for cuts on his forehead and nose, police said.
The spokesperson described the three suspects as between the ages of 18 and 25.
There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.

I hope this man is OK. But I’m curious as to why he was sitting on the sidewalk at 12:30am!
This block as described is ab elementary school playground and a NYCHA building, and there are benches in front of them. It’s not uncommon for people to sit there in the eary evening chatting with neighbors.
Would I sit there at midnight with a Rolex and $300 in my pocket? No, because there’s also some drug dealing that goes on by those benches late at night and sometimes teen gang members connected with this NYCHA. building.
During the daytime, a lovely playground and area and never any danger or problems, but I wouldn’t sit in the middle of the night.
Another story about a robbery on the UWS today without a description of the suspects. I’m sure the “moderators” won’t publish this comment either. They must support criminals.
