The Martoonity Prayer

July 14, 2024 | 6:02 AM

By Gary Martin

“I like to riff off the larger zeitgeist of the world in my cartoons and make them personal. So this week, I am tapping into the national discussion/argument/ nightmare on aging. And because getting old(er) is not going away anytime soon, expect more in this series I’m now calling ‘Martoons Musings on Maturity’ — but don’t hold me to that title! (I welcome better suggestions in the comments…).”

Gary B. Martin is an illustrator and animator who has lived on the Upper West Side for over 30 years. His illustrations appear in the Rag on Sundays, chronicling life in the neighborhood, New York City, and the Universe.

Aging is not easy, it is certainly not pretty, but it beats the alternative. Go Gary!
