Exactly the sort of pointless driving that CP is meant to discourage! Thanks for spreading the word Bob =)
cool and what about those of us who commute from Jersey? the $15 roundtrip ride with EZ Pass (another scam) now becomes $35. it does nothing but price out ppl from working.
I think it going to be $23? there is like a $10 tunnel toll credit.
you should consider taking one of the many trains, busses or ferries that share the burden of commuting among many. you want to bring 15 feet and 2000 lb of car in, when you simply dont have to? if your job requires it, maybe consider asking them to compensate you accordingly? you didnt enact congestion pricing.
I can see why they want congestion pricing midday – midweek – the streets are often gridlocked. 1. I live in upper Manhattan and I would often drive downtown on the w/e when the area is light on traffic, there is plenty of street parking. We’d meet friends, I’d pick up friends who were visiting at hotels with their luggage, take my elderly parents out downtown or when we plan to do some larger shopping, take the stroller, etc. Now that will all stop. No way that I will pay $15 extra – the city is already so expensive it’s just pushing me to rethink living here. Basically I’ll avoid mid and downtown.
2. Also when we used to live on LI we’d plan weekend car visits – early Saturday or Sunday mornings, drive in, park on the street – it was affordable. Taking the LIRR x 3 or 4 people, plus subway fare and then schlepping any shopping, stroller and often the dog – is simply too expensive and burdensome via public transport.
The $15 cost will drastically cut down on people venturing into the city on the weekend for a visit.
Driving in on a Sunday before 9 will be a $3 fee, I believe. im not sure if there’s any tunnel credit for Sunday. I fully expect to take advantage, as I already drive in weekly at that time, and take advantage of the ‘no double credit’ rule.
im really hopeful that this also cuts down on cars leaving the city on weekends, and clogging up the roads in Jersey City every Sunday afternoon from like 10am on
Good one.
