The New York Piano Society welcomes you on April 14th, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. to our second appearance on the Zankel stage at Carnegie Hall! You will hear Sergei Prokofiev’s revered children’s tale, “Peter and the Wolf” adapted for solo piano in a new format! Arranged by the legendary Russian pianist, Tatiana Nikolayeva, Prokofiev’s original narration, voiced by Winnifred Bonjean-Alpart, has been adapted by Nancy Bachrach to reflect this new way of telling a beloved classic. Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet” features his trademark sardonic humor, beauty, and ultimate tragedy in a way only he can express, all brought to life by our talented members.

We are beyond honored to present the celebrated, in-demand, Grammy-nominated Catalyst Quartet in Dmitri Shostakovich’s Piano Quintet. Throughout, you will hear selections that are near and dear to our pianists in works by Liszt, Schubert, amongst others.

We are so proud of all the work we have accomplished at NYPS and our continued evolution, striving to extend our reach beyond the concert hall by engaging schools such as Democracy Prep Harlem Elementary – who will join us at the concert!

We know you will leave the concert elated, because that’s what music does – it makes our atoms dance!

Don’t wait and GET YOUR TICKETS TODAY! General admission $35, Students/Seniors $10, Children under 18 years old join absolutely FREE! *For student, senior, children’s tickets please visit the main Box Office on 57th street off 7th Ave* .

About NYPS

New York Piano Society (NYPS) is a nonprofit organization, founded in 2005 by pianist Elena Leonova, and under the current leadership of Artistic Director Natasha Paremski, is committed to discovering, developing and presenting talented pianists whose professions lie outside the field of music. NYPS fosters artistic growth through workshops, master classes, and performances with professional guest artists on major New York City stages.

Check out our YouTube Channel to see some recent classes! We are dedicated to engaging our community with our musical enthusiasm by performing in schools and retirement communities, and by making our concerts free to all children to welcome them to experience music, perhaps even live for the first time.

NYPS has had the privilege of performing in such venues as Carnegie Hall, 92nd Street Y, Baruch College, and has had the honor to perform alongside such distinguished artists as Grammy Award winning cellist Zuill Bailey, the Grammy nominated Catalyst Quartet, world renowned violinist Chee-Yun, the late piano legend Byron Janis, and the magnificent flutist Carol Wincenc.
