A major storm system is expected to bring “flooding rainfall, strong to damaging winds, and moderate to major shoreline impacts” to the New York area, including the five boroughs, according to the National Weather Service.
We are still on track for a major storm system to bring flooding rainfall, strong to damaging winds, moderate to locally major coastal flooding, and major shoreline impacts starting this evening. #NYwx #CTwx #NJwx

The storm is expected to hit Tuesday afternoon and run into Wednesday morning.
The city is under a flood watch from 6 p.m., Tuesday, to noon on Wednesday, as well as a high wind warning and a coastal flood warning, according to the National Weather Service.
There are two to four inches of rain expected, with the heaviest rainfall expected from 9 p.m. on Tuesday to 3 a.m. on Wednesday, according to a Travel Advisory sent out by the city. A light rain is expected to begin around 2 p.m.
The forecast also warns of winds up to 70 mph.
“While the city is preparing, it also always important that New Yorkers are prepared, so make sure that you have your emergency plan in place,” Zach Iscol, NYC’s Emergency Management Commissioner, said in a video worth watching on Tuesday.

I’m intrigued as to why there have been no comments posted as of 6PM for an article that was published at 11AM about a major storm. I’ve always believed that 9 out of 10 people couldn’t start a conversation if the weather didn’t change.
It rained.
It’s rainy. What more is there to know?
Your sarcasm meter is broken.
According to the national weather service it rained 1.94 inches in Central Park. A lot of rain but not a huge amount for a 12 hour time period and not enough to overwhelm the NYC storm sewer network. The local weather forecasters looking for ratings bumps by predicting doom and gloom are keeping their failing record intact.
I understand it was worse if you live along a river in NJ but that’s not really relevant to a super local neighborhood website.
Too bad no snow
