At around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, a young man allegedly approached a 13-year-old girl with a bicycle near Amsterdam Avenue and West 86th Street “and threatened her physical harm if she did not surrender her bicycle,” according to an NYPD report. “The [man] then removed the bicycle and fled to parts unknown. There were no [physical] injuries reported in this incident,” police added.

Below are photos of the person suspected of committing the crime. He is described as “in his late teens with a medium complexion.”

Anyone with Information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/ or on X (Twitter) @NYPDTips.  All calls are strictly confidential.

Picture of bicycle?

Color, size , and brand of a small bike is pretty easy to spot.

Coward? I can think of a few other choice words for this guy. Words which WSR can’t publish.

So he was on a scooter and took her bike? Please clarify.

Sounds like a miserable person. I hope they find him and justice is served. Based on sentencing guidelines he will likely get a slap on the wrist but this should be treated seriously. I’m not suggesting a life sentence but more than a small fine, with a bigger penalty if this was a second offense or he does it again.

Actually, a life sentence would do just fine.

Sentencing guidelines are for federal court. NY state has a fixed range.

If the facts are as described, this would be third-degree robbery, a D felony. Sentence can range from fines to seven years in prison. With a prior felony, this jerk would do at least a couple of years upon conviction. So, if this *was* a repeat offense, and assuming he is caught and convicted, you will get your wish.

Additionally Class A misdemeanor 260.10 child endangerment, up to 3 years probation and 1 year in prison. Not that the DA is counting.

Quite possibly, but any sentences would most likely run concurrently rather than consecutively.

Prison? Bragg isn’t prosecuting this. Does anyone understand the new reality? He’s flashing gang signs on camera. He doesn’t care because nothing will happen.

You’re joking, right? Fine? Pigs will fly before we collect that, let alone that we’ll never get to anything close to a sentencing in the first place.

Even if we do, some progressive DA will spin him as a victim of the system and the theft as restorative justice – after all, we can’t have 13yr olds on bikes, while the 18yr olds are on scooters. Equity, equality and all…

That isn’t a ‘peace’ sign he’s flashing. I have no doubt he was being watched by his friends and he doesn’t give a damn that his image was caught on a security camera. : (

Thank you for putting [physical] in brackets to acknowledge that mental health is health and that trauma is an injury.

Remember when the police walked in the neighborhoods. They made their presence known and we knew their names.

Putting more cops walking the streets would take money from Mayor Photo-shoot’s favorite charity supporting the illegals flooding our city.
