A man threatened and pulled a knife on a 13-year-old boy riding a train on the Upper West Side, police said on Thursday.
A 13-year-old boy was on a southbound 1 train at about 1:25 p.m. on October 25 approaching the 66th Street station, when a man he didn’t know came up to him and started an argument, police said.
The man then pulled out a knife and threatened to stab the teenager, police said. The man got off the train at 66th Street and fled in an unknown direction, police added.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).

There must be more to this than meets the eye
Nine times out of ten “there’s more to this than meets the eye.”
But what makes you raise that here, when an adult pulls a knife on a 13 year old?
The alleged perp may be suffering from dementia.
Amazing how anyone who commits a crime for the reason of having a mental illness, always chooses a weaker or a perceived easier victim. If they were really crazy, then they would choose to attack random people, no matter if it’s an elderly person or a 300 lb ex convict.
Smartphone cameras didn’t exist in the 1990s.
Jerks on the train did.
Not to make light of a horrible situation, but lessons learned:
Never trust a man in a beret
Never trust a man with those ridiculous looking glasses
If someone starts an argument, walk away. No matter what. Go to a more crowded area of the train car and at the next stop, go to a different car.
Hopefully there will be a penalty for this man’s crime. Threatening with a knife is not trivial, though it seems to be treated as such.
I get OFF the train totally when there’s an argument I know how FAST it can escalate..just today a guy was screaming the usual expletives on a #6 local I was getting off at Spring but he jumped off screaming n yelli I sat back down and got off next stop..I hate playin these games but what can u do..u gotta be fast and alert and I’m over 75 ..it’s either that or stay in the rest of my life….
Burning all of my berets….
Ridiculous response in this case: “Never trust a man in a beret
Never trust a man with those ridiculous looking glasses”
That was the best part of the comment! Are you kidding?! LOL. Thank you for the laugh and the truths!!
That’s a very clear picture- hopefully the man will be quickly found. I do, however, wonder why it took 10 days for the police to ask for the public’s help identifying him (unless there was a reporting delay). People are much more likely to remember things immediately after an incident- for example, if they saw this man on the street near the 66th St. station, etc.
The alleged knife-wielder appears to be wearing a version of Google Glass, the so-called “smart” spectacles introduced by Google and since discontinued. Who knows what images they were delivering to his brain and what responses they might have triggered when he approached the teen-ager. Hope they catch him soon and take away his “toy.”
No, that’s some sort of book light mounted on the frame of reading glasses.
