A man was shot early Thursday morning on the Upper West Side, a police spokesperson confirmed.

A 38-year-old man was shot in the leg about 3:15 a.m. at Central Park West and West 91st Street, police said. He was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital in stable condition, police added.

A person of interest has been taken into custody, NYPD said.

There was not more available information as of Thursday morning about what led up to the shooting or if the two people knew each other.

This story will be updated once we know more.

We heard three to five gunshots at 3:11am. Police also closed the street. Sounded more severe than a gunshot to the leg.

We heard multiple gunshots at around 3am. The doorman said that the police told him that the man was walking his dog and three men ambushed him near the Citibike rack at 91st and CPW. They shot him six times and wounded but did not kill him. Police arrived in ~2 min and apprehended two of the men, and the third was identified on security footage and by a fingerprint.

NYC ranked 137th out of 182 cities rated in WalletHub’s Safest U.S. Cities rankings.

NYC was 145th in terms of Home & Community Safety, but ranked higher overall due to fewer natural disasters.

This is safer, folks?
