Currently in its 54th year on the Upper West Side, Rodeph Sholom School is the only Nursery through 8th Grade Reform Jewish Day School in NYC. Known for engaging students in meaningful experiences and intellectual exploration through a challenging academic curriculum infused with Jewish values and ethics, students discover their love of learning and sense of responsibility to themselves and society. Students and families with various backgrounds and structures connect and thrive in Rodeph Sholom School’s welcoming, vibrant, and inclusive community and graduates often attend prestigious high schools and colleges and become leaders in their chosen fields. In the spring the school will celebrate 54 years of academic excellence with a schoolwide gala.

In addition to its academic focus, the school maintains a meaningful partnership with Congregation Rodeph Sholom. Clergy members are deeply involved in the school community and help guide students through both everyday moments as well as important Jewish coming-of-age rituals, including B’nai Mitzvah. Congregation Rodeph Sholom School serves as the physical and spiritual backbone of a community informed by Jewish values, and often remains a part of families’ lives long after their children have graduated.

The 79th St campus houses the elementary and middle school and has recently undergone some renovations that reshape the way the community engages with its physical spaces by providing a beautiful lobby and community room for students, faculty, and parents to gather for myriad purposes–from worship to performances to guest speakers and meetings.

The 84th St. campus is home to the Early Childhood Division which is hosting 2 Open Houses in October.  To learn about the Twos and Threes Program, you can sign up to visit the school from 9:00 am to 10:15 am on Wednesday, October 11th and hear from the Head of School, Division Heads, some current parents, and have the opportunity to take a tour. To learn about the Pre-K and Kindergarten Programs register here for an Open House on Wednesday, October 25th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm and hear from school leadership, clergy, current students, and alumni. You will also have the opportunity to participate in a mini-class!

Prospective families can learn more here. To learn more about what Rodeph Sholom School has to offer or to schedule a personal tour, please contact the Office of Enrollment at admissions@rssnyc.org or complete this inquiry form.

Wow, had no idea how new the school was when i went there in early 70s for Nursery and Kindergarten — in fact, we were both born in the same great year, 1969!

It’s a wonderful school with a warm human heart. After all these years it remains child and community centered and a precious asset to the upper west side

I was at the Rodeph Sholom Nursery School in 1960, and my older brother and sister had already passed through it so I’m guessing the Nursery School predated the rest of the school. My vague memory of it is as a warm, calm, loving place. 🥰
