‘Statue of Liberkitty.’ Painting by Victoria Cumings.

By Victoria Cumings

Having now shared the “tails” of all the wonderful cats submitted, West Side Mews will be taking a pause from publication.

What fun it has been to converse with cat lovers from all around the Upper West Side, and especially to meet the fabulous felines featured in the run of 21 biweekly columns. Before another cat casting call, the writer plans to spend some time creating a painting of all the kitties from West Side Mews, to commemorate the glorious-ness of our UWS cat community. Watch this space….

Meantime, in honor of all the pet moms and dads providing safe, loving, and happy homes to cats across New York City — the “Statue of Liberkitty”.

As a kitty staff member (we all know that we work for them), I’ll miss you! Really enjoy those stories, and share them with a cat-living friend in Oregon. He’s a fan, too! Look forward to your return!

I hope your “paws” is restorative, energizing and fun, and that you’ll be back for more great profiles. I’ve loved every one of your stories, and so appreciate how well you get our cats. I’ve showed your story on our Freyja to countless friends and family members.
