There was a stabbing on W. 83rd Street and West End Avenue at 3:53 p.m., police told West Side Rag. A 38-year-old man was stabbed in his right arm with an unknown object by a man in his 40s, who fled southbound on West End Avenue in a black Mercedes-Benz.* The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside hospital and is “not likely,” i.e. to die. The investigation is ongoing.

*This detail was initially, inadvertently omitted.

Every building on WEA seems to have a security camera, if he escaped in a car, there is certain to be pictures and hopefully a clear shot of the plates.

this is another one i don’t understand. Why can’t NYC ask every building to install 3-5 cameras? How much could that possibly cost? $10k? That’s nothing compared to the cost of solving crimes.

Another random stabbing and Adams keeps assuring us crime is down ! It seems this is happening every few days. I am guessing the perpetrator is a person who has done this before and should be behind bars !

In today’s Times Adams was quoted as having said that shootings and murders are down. Certain other categories of crime were up in 2022.

The average mugger doesn’t escape in a Mercedes. This sounds more like a conflict between the two individuals involved than a random crime.

In broad daylight, on a not-so-quiet street. How could there be no witnesses?

I think there were witnesses. From the Citizen App live yesterday: “Confirmed assault with knife, aided not likely. Suspect is a m/w wearing a gray puffer jacket, fled s/b on WEA in a black Mercedes-Benz (SUV).”

Doorman in almost every building. I wonder if it was under scaffolding at that school?
