Over 20 Upper West Side businesses will be participating in the first neighborhood “Trick-or-Treat Night for Dogs” on Friday, October 28th from 5-7 PM.

“It’s going to be exactly like a typical trick-or-treat night, but for dogs,” said Amanda Gay of Camp Canine, one of the organizers of the event. The other is JustFoodForDogs. “Pawrents can walk around the neighborhood with their dogs in costumes and collect treats from all of the participating businesses.”

Upper West Side businesses joining the festivities range from clothing stores to bakeries to fitness centers.  Lululemon, SoulCycle, PaperSource, OrangeTheory, AG Jeans, Insomnia Cookies, Levain Bakery, Bond Vet, Black Lab Café, Alice’s Tea Cup and Arc’teryx have  committed to giving out Halloween treats. For a full list of participating businesses click here.

Some neighborhood spots will open early for trick or treating from 12-2 PM, in addition to the 5-7 PM time.  “Early birders” include Camp Canine, JustFoodForDogs, SoulCycle, The Pet Market, Black Lab Café and Paper Source.

“This is just the beginning,” Gay said. The two businesses plan make this an annual event, and to partner again to provide the neighborhood with more large-scale, dog-friendly events like this one.

Folks, I’d like to think it goes without saying, but since there are a great, great many things in that category that need saying nonetheless … dogs and chocolate don’t mix. You knew that, right? Just checking.

The best kind of capitalism. Dogs are surprisingly good at economics. Mine handles all my investing.

Mine lost me thousands in the crash of ‘08. He’s still managing partner of his firm but I think his practices are disingenuous
