WSR Poetry Corner: ‘The Upper West Side’

‘Columbus Rain.’ Painting by Robert Beck.

We get a lot of great material from emails sent to info@westsiderag.com, West Side Rag’s Tips and Ideas link. (Look up and to the left.) “My name is Kate Cenedella,” began a recent one. “I have lived here for years. Now retired, I was a public school reading teacher, taught at NYU, wrote educational materials published by Macmillan, as well as articles for small magazines in the past. I’ve written a poem entitled, ‘The Upper West Side,’ which everyone says belongs in the West Side Rag.”

Now, it is.

Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate. First I want to say I love it.
Just because it’s what I needed to see.
Because we all need inspiration.

There are many authors on the UWS (I for one). Maybe you do an article listing some of them and their work. Just a thought.
