Stephen Harmon, whose photographs and essays have enhanced the Rag for years, is facing an unexpected medical procedure in his characteristic way. He is walking, with his wife Cynthia by his side, through the city he loves and loves to photograph and share. Nearly every day, West Side Rag receives an emailed note and some photographs from Steve. Here are the latest.
It has been two weeks since I had the stents put in at Lenox Hill and I am feeling very good. Yesterday, Cynthia and I met with the surgeon, who scheduled the bypass procedure for March 17, so I have a whole month to bother you with photos and then, I think, I will take a short rest as I recover.
We walked home through a beautiful, bright blue-skied Central Park.
The Boat House Cafe was open so we stopped for lunch. It was filled mostly with happy tourists and was a particularly pleasant place to have lunch with its view over the frozen pond through the bare trees into midtown.
We wound up at Strawberry Fields where the Imagine mosaic was still adorned with flowers that had been neatly placed by people on Valentine’s Day. Just another great day in the city I love!
Steve
