We just got an email from the management of Charles Pan-Fried Chicken, at 144-146 West 72nd Street between Columbus and Amsterdam, and we’re forwarding it directly to you:
Good morning!!
I’m happy to announce that our upper west side location will be opening its doors Monday [2/7] at 11am!
Thank you so much for your patience and continued interest!
Charles Pan-Fried Chicken is widely hailed as some of the best fried chicken in NYC. The New York Times called it, “the Platonic ideal of fried chicken.”

EVERYONE PLS SAY A PRAYER FOR MY SELF CONTROL 🤤
The number of articles about this place is significantly overcooked.
Sounds yummy! Looking forward to trying it!
I am salivating at the pics. Someone post a review on Monday please.
I used to go to the Harlem location all the time. (Lucky me; it was at the end of my block.) Both the chicken and sides are fantastic. So excited for the UWS opening.
I’m always happy to hear about commercial real estate vacancies being occupied in our hood, but with all the fried chicken/cookies/ice cream, etc., I have to quote Vinny from “My Cousin Vinny” as the cook puts a big blob of lard on the stove.
“Excuse me, you guys down here hear about the ongoing cholesterol problem in the country?”
There’s also a Sweetgreen, Chopt and Just Salad in the immediate area. Relax.
brb gotta set up my camping tent in front of the shop….
Lord in Heaven, Blessed art thou, Ruler of All, Sovereign of the Universe, who brings forth fried chicken (and sides) from the Earth.
Thanks in advance.:) Can’t wait for this!
When are you coming to the DMV?

I didn’t know that the Department of Motor Vehicles had food vendors. Great idea for those waiting to get licenses renewed!
they do. a lot of cooking with molasses, though
At the old (second) Harlem location, chicken was very good but the pork chops!
Ohhh… the pork chops!! smothered in gravy!
Woohoo!! Dinner for tomorrow!
Menu, anywhere?
I’ve been waiting for them to open ever since they put the “coming this summer” sign on their door last April. I didn’t think it would ever actually open. I wish them success and look forward to stopping in for takeout this week.
Well, it’s 11:36?
Can’t wait!
When will the Harlem location be open on W. 145th St.
Let’s all stop clucking around!
a new spot appears
its chicken, pan-friend, for all
ha, take that sweet greens
Wonderful haiku, J!
One comment (from an ex-proofreader) did autocorrect turn pan-fried into pan-friend?
It lives up to the hype. The food is delicious. The staff is helpful, courteous, and friendly. Welcome to the neighborhood!!
Everyone in the know knows La Dinastia across the street has always had the best fried chicken.
