A 37-year-old woman was shot in the left eye through the peephole of her apartment at 860 Columbus Avenue, near 103rd Street in the Douglass Houses complex, on Monday night, an NYPD spokesperson told WSR.

“She heard a knock on her door,” the spokesperson said. “When she went to look, she heard shots fired and felt pain in her eye.”

Police got the call at 7:39 p.m. She was taken to Mt. Sinai Morningside (St. Luke’s) hospital. In police parlance, she was reported “not likely,” i.e. to die.
