New Uptown ‘Night Market’ Launching Thursday

133rd and 12th.

A night market with food and art is coming to the West Side near the former location of Fairway at 133rd Street and 12th Avenue. The Uptown Night Market launches on Thursday, July 8 and will feature “a curated and diverse selection of local West-Harlem & NYC-based food, beverage, arts & crafts, and packaged goods vendors,” according to MASC Hospitality Group, which is putting on the market. MASC has launched other markets before, including one in the Bronx.

People need to get tickets through eventbrite or the group’s Facebook page to attend, but they’re free. After July 8, the next one is August 12.

“The series will also feature live performances from Harlem and NYC favorite local artists, and a variety of all-family activities. It will employ predominantly – local staff and suppliers.”

It runs from 4 to 10 p.m. The website has more.

So in the old Fairway parking lot there? Or are they closing the street?

Jeez, Louise. Nothing like last minute notification! I feel bad for these vendors trying to hold this during a monsoon.

I think Allen Cohen’s comment was related to the market’s FAQ where it says the closest train stop is 125th street on the 1 train. Hence, the question of whether the next northbound stop “137th Street/City College” is “closer”.
You’re welcome.
(And since Broadway is compressed over a couple of numbered streets in that area, the two train stops are probably similar distance from the market)

I think that due to the inclement weather the opening for tomorrow has been postponed for 8/12/21
