On Friday morning around 11:23 a.m., a man approached a 36-year-old Hispanic man on the southwest corner of West 84th Street and Columbus Avenue and slashed him across the head, according to an NYPD spokeswoman.
The victim suffered a “large laceration” and was treated with “staples to the head” at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital, NYPD said.
Police said they did not have information on the type of weapon used or the motivation for the assault. The victim told the NYPD that he did not know his assailant. No additional details were available on the suspect.
An officer on the scene told WSR that the crime did not appear to have anything to do with P.S. 9, the elementary school located on that corner.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the 20th Precinct Detectives Squad at 212.580.6414.
