Century 21 Close-Out Sale Draws Lines Down the Block

September 14, 2020 | 7:55 PM

The going-out-of-business sale at the Century 21 at 66th and Broadway is in full swing and shoppers lined up down the block to wait for access to the store on Monday. Clearly people are attracted to sales of already-discounted goods being discounted even more. One thing that apparently went fast: men’s underwear.

“Once in it is already pretty picked over in some areas,” wrote out tipster Edie. Men’s undies is bays of empty shelving. Then a long line to pay…but that moves fast, as ever.”

I’m hopeful that as a result Century 21 closing, John’s Coffee Shop will return to this location.

I thought there was a Barnes & Noble bookstore with a cafe upstairs at that location.

Yes, and it was a fine destination, esp. when loads of recorded music was for sale
