Ollie’s Noodle Shop and Grille, Time-tested, traditional Chinese, 2705 Broadway (103rd-104th) reopens today, June 3rd. (The 89th Street store remains closed until further notice.) “We will be open for takeout and delivery only,” a spokesperson told WSR. “In order to ease back into our regular operations, we will start with being open 6 days a week (closed on Tuesdays) with limited hours from 12PM-9PM.” Order online.
Tiki Chick A tiki bar theme from the Jacob’s Pickles gang. At 517 Amsterdam Avenue (85th Street.) No phone number is given, but the website is here.
Columbus Gourmet, Basic counter-serve deli, with pizza, sandwiches & bakery items (and good coffee), 261 Columbus Avenue (72nd – 73rd), reopened “two Tuesdays ago,“ Zeyna, the essential cashier told us. They’re offering pickup and delivery, Monday through Sunday, 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. “Business is picking up day by day, as people become aware we’re open,” Zeyna said. And a special treat: outside seating for two! (212) 721-7800
Tipster Ms. Heike Schilling sent the following request: “Please add my decades-long laundromat P & K Laundromat & Cleaners, 432 Amsterdam Avenue (80th and 81st.) It reopened on June 1, 2020, after 70 days of closure. At the beginning the hours are from 9 am – 5 pm, closed on Sunday. Best to call in case of changes, as business get stronger. (212) 799-2796. Fung, the lively, forever smiling, super efficient operations soul of the place wants the word to go out to her clientele.”
Made in New York Pizza, classic slices & square pies with creative toppings plus calzones & garlic knots, 421 Amsterdam Avenue (80th.) “We’ve been open all the time,” said Robert, a counterman. “But business is slow, we’re not too busy.” (That’s too bad, because it is this reporter’s favorite.) According to Robert, they are open “from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., sometimes 8, sometimes 9, depending on how busy we are.” Order online or call (646) 484-6200
Ollies! and Tiki Chick! This is great! Hooray!
Made in New York Pizza is the best “classic slice” pizza on the UWS.
I love the tiny little pizza by the slice place just south of Made in NY on Amsterdam, near Swagat. I think they changed names. Are they open?
Carlos- The former T & R now with a new name, is open!
Made in NY Pizza is indeed great! Love to support them!
When ordering from Made in New York (or other pizza) consider using the Slice app. It doesn’t charge what some of the other apps charge. They even tell you how much you saved the pizzeria
Can’t you just call them on the phone?
Could anyone recommend a great place to order a large sub/Hero/sandwich, something similar to Subway, but better quality? I used to get amazing sandwiches at Gracie Cafe on the UES but that’s gone now, and I don’t have a clue where to find them on the UWS. Thank you!
If you are looking to massive sub – Parm does a good job!
Great question. I have been wondering the same thing. Lenwich is good but their prices have gotten ridiculous. I prefer to find a small local place but I really miss the Blimpie that was around 97th and Broadway. Adding a Jersey Mike’s to the neighborhood would also work…
I forgot about Blimpies, I think it was much better than Subway. I will check out Lenwich, thank you!
lynn- have you tried Giacomo’s on the 72nd and West End? It’s right by the bike store and a very sweet little place that has been there for decades.
Seconding Giacomo. You know they’re great when WSR gives ’em a full story…

I will definitely check with them, thank you for the recommendation!
And Giacomo’s has the BEST Swedish meatballs. Family-owned. GREAT place!
Bardolino Pizza on Amsty puts out solid slices and has been open too!
Where’s “Amsty”?
You must not be from these parts – Amsty is Amsterdam…Not the Netherlands either. 😉
I’ve lived near 72nd and Broadway for 44 years, known a lot of people here and have never heard a single soul refer to Amsterdam Avenue as “Amsty”. Is it a juvenile thing?
No, I got what “Amsty” meant. I just thought it was too cutesy poo not be commented on.
I have never heard of that term either but I think it was fairly obvious. Did you think they were using Amsty on an UWS message board to refer to the Gowanus Expressway or Whitehall Street?
Could it be…Amsterdam?
The dim sum place on 78th and Amsterdam has reopened -Jing Fong -I sent WSR a photo of their note. We ordered from there and it was all good… probably actually a little better than takeouts were previously (maybe because they are less busy.)
Boka is also finally doing Korean fried chicken, after “opening” for like 4 years. They also have sushi.
Brian
The sushi below boka was fantastic but on the pricier side though the sushi set was about average
any laundromats open for self service??
Columbus Gourmet!
Wonderful that they are back after “rumors of ‘my’ demise’ proved indeed to “be premature”.
Great variety, Great staff, Great food.
I recommend to all!
Pizza Collective is opened on 71st & Bdwy. Great pizza.
It’s owned by Italians from Milano and Calabria.
Sure, if you like a $7 slice. A single slice of the Carbonara pizza came to well over $6.
I mean it was fine, but not that good.
I’ve been an UWS resident for 25 years. My favorite Pizza is Cheesy Pizza on 100 and Broadway. Order direct from them and delivery is fast. I was not impressed with Made in NY Pizza.
Agree re made in New York pizza. The sauce was too sweet and no one in my family asked for seconds
Wow, you just named my least favorite pizza on the UWS. Ever see how they make the pizza? The dough is premade, it comes to them in frozen balls….I urge you to give Made in NY Pizza another try, even the chains like Famous Famiglia and La Vera, both on 96th, are better than Cheesy Pizza…Little Italy on 92nd is a thick, bready slice but also better than your favorite, and they deliver super fast…I miss Mama’s Too!, as I’m not interested in ordering on their website, waiting two hours to go pick it up, etc.
According to Bloomberg News, City Council has approved plan to close streets and/or block parking spots for al fresco dining starting in JULY!! YAY.
Osteria Cotta is now open for delivery and takeout.
I’d like to know how all of these places are handling cleanliness, social distancing etc. in the kitchen itself. Are the cooks wearing masks? Using gloves? I’m glad restaurants are opening but more information is needed.
