    11. Scott, my heart breaks for you! I feel as if I’ve known you through all your good works for our community, and as a fellow Upper West Sider over many years. I admire her from afar for her obvious passion for the Latin people and service to them. Her pleasure in their cultures compelled her to wed Carlos. I share with her as a woman of Jewish heritage who also married a Latin man. And a fervent “student” of Boricua History, Culture, and Art. PURA VIDA as said in Costa Rica.

Condolences from the entire Flehinger family.
My kids and I warmly remember the Xmas Open Houses at Carlos and Arlene’s home during those years we attended, I’m guessing about 1987-1992. My daughter remembers that Arlene came to our shiva when she read that my husband had died, even though we had been out of touch for several years. She was a radiently warm and wonderful human being. I do not know if Scott will get to read this personal tribute, but I do not know where to write to him at home.
