Many of you know me, but for those that don’t, I want to give you an inside look in to my busy and sometimes very challenging life.
I’m 49 years old, and I’m the owner of Silver Stars Fitness. I’m also a dad to an amazing five year-old girl who keeps me on my toes every day and have been married for almost ten years. Yes, I got married and had a kid pretty late in life.
Although my daughter means the world to me, you could imagine that having a five year-old at 49 and running a business is sometimes very challenging from an energy standpoint. But, because I have been on a regular fitness program for the last thirty years, I’m able to play and run around with my daughter as if I was 25, well- let’s say at least thirty! LOL!
I’ve been in the fitness world for almost 25 years and although I’ve experienced many ups and downs, I consider myself to be so lucky to have found my passion that running Silver Stars on most days is just plain-old fun. I get this incredible high to have an opportunity to help men and women over 50 improve their quality of life and get fit.
You might be wondering how and why I chose to dedicate my career to working with the 50-plus population. Even in the early days way back in the 1990’s when I began my career as personal trainer, I was drawn to the 50 plus client and they were drawn to me.
I was always a teacher and coach first and then a “trainer”. I have many weaknesses, but some of my strengths such as patience and my ability to break down exercises and give rationals seemed to work well with the 50 plus population. And of course, the biggest reason why I chose to specialize in this population was the reward that I felt with actually helping someone improve balance, move better or increase their strength that helped them in their life. I got a lot more satisfaction from helping people with real life goals a lot more than helping people getting fit for summer or looking better in the bathing suit. Now, don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with those goals and being being able to help someone accomplish that, but it just wasn’t enough for me.
So to fast forward a bit, I played a lot of different roles in the fitness industry from personal trainer to fitness director to an area manager, but nothing satisfied me like helping men and women over 50 accomplish their fitness and health goals. So, I dedicated the last 15 years out of my 25 years in the industry to learning as much as possible from some of the best minds in the fitness industry on how to improve the lives of the 50 plus fitness enthusiast. And then I realized that the 50 plus population was being under-served, as all the other large commercial clubs and even fitness studios were focusing on the younger population. So that’s when I decided to open up SILVER STARS FITNESS with the goal in mind to form a team of a like-minded staff to help as many people as possible over the age of 50.
And, here we are six years later still in business and now as of a couple of months ago, a fitness franchise! I thank YOU for making my dream possible.

Sure, I’m tired, (REMEMBER I HAD A KID AT 44!) but as I said before my mission and passion is to help you get motivated about exercise. The # 1 reason or excuse to not exercise is time and then followed with a lack of motivation or energy. MOVE YOUR BODY!
Moving your body gets your heart beating and your blood flowing. By increasing blood flow, movement helps nourish skin cells. Blood carries oxygen and nutrients to working cells throughout the body including the skin..

HOME PROGRAM TO INCREASE YOUR CARDIO ENDURANCE AND ENERGY LEVELS!
- SIT TO STAND QUICKLY- SIT ON A CHAIR AND STAND UP QUICKLY. LOWER SLOWLY TO CHAIR WITH CHEST UP AND THEN STAND UP QUICKLY AGAIN. PERFORM FOR 20 SECONDS.
- MARCHES IN PLACE- STAND TALL WITH SHOULDERS BACK AND CHEST UP. ELBOWS SHOULD BE BENT AT 90 DEGREES. PICK UP YOUR FEET AND MARCH FOR 60 SECONDS.
- FLOOR GET-UPS- LIE ON YOUR BACK WITH LEGS STRAIGHT AND GET UP AT A COMFORTABLE SPEED FOR YOU. STAND UP FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS AND THEN LIE BACK DOWN TO THE FLOOR. STAND UP AS MANY TIMES AS YOU CAN IN 60 SECONDS.
- SIDE WALKS OR SHUFFLES- WALK BRISKLY TO THE SIDE OR PICK UP YOUR FEET AND SHUFFLE SIDEWAYS. YOU SHOULD MOVE WITH GOOD POSTURE, SHOULDERS BACK AND DOWN AND CHEST OVER YOUR KNEES. WALK OR SHUFFLE FOR 60 SECONDS.
REST AFTER THIS CIRCUIT FOR 60 SECONDS OR AS LONG AS NEEDED AND REPEAT FOR ONE MORE ROUND..
IF YOU HAVE KNEE, HIP, BACK OR SHOULDER CONCERNS, PLEASE DO WHAT YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE DOING AND LISTEN TO YOUR BODY AS ALL THE MOVEMENTS ARE NOT FOR EVERYONE!
