A man allegedly reached into a cash register at Key Food, 530 Amsterdam at 86th Street, and took $344 before fleeing the scene around 12:30pm on Wednesday afternoon, according to Deputy Inspector Timothy Malin of NYPD’s 20th Precinct.

The suspect did not display any weapons or make any threats, according to Malin, who characterized the petit larceny as a “grab and go.”

Police said a Key Food manager chased the suspect before officers arrived. Some reports had the suspect running east on 86th Street toward the B/C subway station. Detectives from 20th Precinct are investigating.
