THE DAKOTA GETS ITS FAMOUS BRONZE BOOTH BACK

Nearly all of the scaffolding is down from the Dakota and the iconic security booth just came back, after workers polished the bronze and replaced the finial on top, according to our Dakota-watcher David.

The scaffolding came off the 72nd Street side earlier this year and is now mostly down from the Central Park West Side after shrouding the building for more than a year. Just in time for the next flock of tourists to get their cell phones out.

Soon every square inch of the inhabitable Earth will be photographed, and thanks to recent technology, geo located. And all those photos will sit uselessly on our hard-drives, or in data storage farms… Until artificial intelligence takes over the world, and inslaves us, then uses all that data to build the Matrix. (Or has it already?) Anyway, over photographed places like ‘The Dakota’ will be accurate to a T.

I was once speaking with a woman I didn’t know at the bus stop or somewhere, and mentioned how nice a building looked that had recently been cleaned. She said she liked the buildings dirty, it’s part of their character. I disagree….it’s dirt. I appreciate those owners who clean the buildings. The Dakota looks wonderful again!

I think the Dakota looks fabulous! Loved seeing it restored to its original grandeur. Expensive project but much appreciated if you love old NY buildings
