All Angels Church at 251 W. 80th St between Broadway and West End is opening its doors to the homeless on Thursday as temperatures are expected to fall to 12 degrees. They posted the following notice on Facebook:

In anticipation of a 12 degree night tomorrow, All Angels’ will be opening our doors for a “code blue” emergency shelter. We are so blessed to have the space to open up to to our brothers and sisters sleeping on the streets and in train stations on dangerous nights such as this.

We have room for 50 people and will be providing beds, showers and a light meal on Thursday night, 7pm-7am. Here’s how you can help:

1. Donate foods, toiletries, warm clothes, or any other goods that might bless our guests. Call the church office at 212.362.9300 to arrange a donation drop off.

2. Make a donation of $40 to help cover costs for meals, security, and supplies. You can click on this link and select “Emergency Shelter”. https://allangelschurch.breezechms.com/give/online.

3. Get the word out and share the link!

If you see anyone on the streets tomorrow, send them our way: 251 W. 80th St between Broadway and West End. And as always, a heartfelt thank you for your support!

All Angels is my church. They have a legacy of reaching out to the poor and marginalized, a history dating to the early 19th century and Seneca Village. (Shameless plug, over.) But our Community Ministries really could use donations, especially financial gifts to cover hard costs not mentioned above and staff salaries etc.

Howard, Since this is your church maybe you could help encourage it to use paper instead of Styrofoam. I spend too much time picking up the soup containers and milk cartons your “patrons” leave in and around Riverside Park. Thanks.

Seriously? He’s asking for help feeding the ‘patrons,’ i.e. HOMELESS and you’re complaining about Styrofoam containers? I’m (almost) speechless. Maybe you could donate some paper supplies. :/
