A man and woman were assaulted on West End Avenue Friday around 6:30 p.m. by two men who yelled anti-white statements and hit the man in the face with a skateboard before running away with his jacket. He also shoved the woman down. Police gave the following description and released the surveillance video below.
It was reported to the police that on Friday, November 18, 2016, at 1839 hours victims, a 61-year-old male and a 54-year-old female, were in the vicinity of West End Avenue between West 77 Street and West 76 Street when they were approached by two individuals who yelled anti-white statements at them. One of the individuals then took a skateboard and hit the male victim in the face and pushed the female victim to the ground. The individuals then removed the male’s jacket and fled the scene in an unknown location. EMS responded and transported both victim’s to St Luke’s Roosevelt hospital for their injuries.
Individual 1: male, dark complexion, 5’10” tall, last seen wearing dark clothing, black helmet and holding a skateboard.
Individual 2: male, light complexion, 6’4″, last seen wearing dark colored clothing, possibly a pink Mohawk.

I was actullay scared and stuff like that doesn’t usually bother me but because I was with my toddler and my 76 yo mother plus I’m pregnant I didn’t even respond at all

I was on 86th and Amsterdam heading east around 6:15 last Thursday when I was approached by a group of teenagers, one of which yelled into my face, “Cracka a$$ b*tch gonna die like the rest of them”. They were headed west and one of them had a skateboard…sounds like they might have been the same kids. It was really scary, I’ve never had anyone yell anything like that at me in our neighborhood. I will report to the police, hopefully they can get surveillance from one of the buildings between Amsterdam and Columbus on 86th.
Those were probably the same exact kids that said the same horrible things!
FYI just tried calling the 20th and the guy on the phone was a moron!

Please report the incident to the police. I think I heard these two assholes on Central Park South when I was walking home on Friday night — I didn’t get a good look at them because when I heard them a block or so behind me, I was like, “Fuck this shit,” and crossed the street to the park side. They were yelling shit and laughing as they walked down the street, one of them had a skateboard.
And I just called and gave what broad tip I could — guy was very friendly and appreciated the time I took to give them tip. Please call!!!
That is very scary and upsetting. If you are able, please consider reporting that incident to the police. It would only help to bolster a case against the perpetrators.

Every time there is a crime report on this blog it feels like there is a lot of victim blaming – shouldn’t be in the park that time of night, etc. But no one can blame the victims here. 6:30 pm on West End Ave and 77th. No one should have to think twice about walking in that neighborhood at that time of day. This is disturbing.
I have, numerous times, blamed victims when WSR reported incidents of people being beaten or robbed or both in Central Park between the hours of midnight and 2am. And I will continue to blame those victims. But this is obviously different. This is sick. To not be able to walk on a street at 6:30pm is a disgrace. These animals must be caught.

I have nearly been run into by young men (white, if you are wondering) on skateboards on the sidewalk, on Broadway: children too young to be in the street (under 13) on wheels should carry them. Everyone else should carry them rather than riding them as well. Between delivery men on bikes and guys on skateboards, the sidewalks are not very safe in some areas.

He said that the incident is being investigated as a hate crime and that info I provided might be helpful
