President Obama spoke at a fundraiser Wednesday night at the Eldorado at 300 Central Park West and dozens of people came out to see his motorcade pass by. David Torres was on Columbus Avenue and 91st street and took these photos.

Thanks for sharing your photos David Torres.
i’m forever surprised that people will stand and wait, corralled like cattle, to view a black windowed armoured car rumble by, surrounded by dozens of nervous cops carrying machine guns.
it is neither a happy or a pretty sight. it is a very dark message.
So jaded.
Actually it’s kind of inspiring. I love seeing that stuff. Will I go out of my way and wait for hours? No. But some of us find it cool. I saw Gorbachev’s limo once when I worked near the Russian Embassy and it happened to stop right in front of me. I was basically face to face with Gorby and he waved at me. Was he behind a door with 6″ of bomb proof glass? Yes. Still was something I won’t forget.
You sound like the Texans who were convinced that the U.S. was going to declare martial law when they performed a military exercise last year.
I personally think Donald Trump’s rise in the polls is the darkest message so far.
GO TRUMP! 2016!
No need to accept the status quo – vote for real change !!
Amen!

Once you lose some sort of pride, interest, curiosity, concern, care, etc for the highest office in our country – it’s fine but just know that others interest is easily justified and explained by many possible reasons. So don’t disparage the urge to come down from our apartments and want to ‘participate’ somehow. Might not be your thing. That’s fine. Let’s celebrate the orderly – maybe not entirely orthodox this time – transfer of power in our country. Soon we won’t have Obama to blame anymore and it might just be good old fashioned nostalgia. Happy to call the UWS home. Thanks for posting David.
“Happy to call the UWS home.”
UWS!UWS!UWS!UWS!UWS!UWS!UWS!UWS!UWS!UWS!UWS!..
So although it is pretty cool the President was in our neighborhood it was total BS all of the roads that ended up being closed by this. The hosts of the fundraiser had no consideration for their neighbors. My wife works in NJ & could not park in our garage so had to waste an hour waiting for the block to open. But the worst was my friend who lives in the El Dorado. He could not even go into his home after a long day of work. Just total BS.
Drove past the Eldorado about 5PM. Those orange dump trucks that look to be filled with salt or gravel were completely surrounding the Eldorado.
Unlike others here, I think the whole thing is very cool and part of living in one of the most influential neighborhoods in the US. But it was a bit unsettling that such precautions were taken.
What do you think are in those orange dump trucks?
I think it’s filled with something heavy to prevent a vehicle from ramming through the barricade, right?
Thanks again for answering my questions.
I’m with the unjaded here… it is no small thing to be in such proximity to the person who is performing what is arguably the most important job in the world. POTUS attended a fundraiser on my street a couple of years ago, and honestly it was a thrill for my kids and me to wait amongst the corralled masses to wave at the armoured blackened windows of the President’s car as it drove by. I grew up in a place that no predict would bother to visit, so for my kids to have had the chance to see the presidential motorcade (and some of them have seen it multiple times) is no small thing.
He’s the president, not the king. We have three co-equal branches of government. Not that anyone seems to remember that anymore.
I don’t begrudge the inconvenience when a president comes to town on official business, like speaking at the UN. But for a president to massively inconvenience so many people just so he can be on a talk show and go to a partisan fundraiser is pretty absurd.
Every president past, present, and future has caused and will cause street closures. Get over it.
