HOLIDAY ALERT: ‘TIS THE SEASON FOR PACKAGE-SWIPING

package

As packages stuffed with gifts pour into buildings throughout the neighborhood, it’s wise to watch out for reverse-Santa-Clauses. We got a notice about an alleged theft on West 98th street.

“My super said this man entered our building at 243 W. 98th street on Saturday the 5th, having been let in by another resident, and went up the stairs. When he returned he had two small packages (which coincidentally belonged to me); however on his way out of the building he noticed a much larger package, which he took, leaving my packages behind. Attached is a photo of this person exiting our building holding the large package. This photo is taken from the security cameras we have installed in our vestibule and foyer area. My super has informed the police and was visited by an officer and has provided them with this picture.”

The NYPD confirmed that they’re looking for the individual.

WHY ISN’T ANYONE MENTIONING HIS RACE? HE’S CLEARLY WHITE. I’M SICK AND TIRED OF THESE WHITE THUGS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD.

Siddhartha’s right. if this man was an African-American, we would be assaulted by a slew of comments decrying “thugs” and liberals.

Or has a mental illness. Those are the de facto excuses for when white people commit crimes.

I cannot believe that people are still letting strangers into their own buildings. What are they thinking? I get that it’s a little awkward to say to the guy (or girl) behind you “Sorry – I can’t let you in.” But that was one of the first things I learned decades ago.
