Wollman Rink (sorry, TRUMP Wollman Rink) opens this weekend and we’ve got a special treat for Throwback Thursday.
Robyn Roth-Moise provided the photo above taken in 1963 when she was 7 years old. These were the pre-Trump days at the rink. Robyn’s a third-generation New Yorker who grew up on West 86th street and went to the Ethical Culture School. “We would skate at Wollman in 1st grade for phys ed on Fridays and I would skate there on and off over the years.”
To participate in Throwback Thursday, please send us a photo, preferably by email to westsiderag@gmail.com. The subject line of the email should be “Throwback Thursday.” In the email include the photo and a brief description of who is in it and where it’s taken and when.
The best way to send an older photo, if you don’t have your images scanned, is to scan them into your computer or take a photo of the photo with a phone or digital camera. We’re not looking for perfect clarity, just a good sense of the image and some information. If this isn’t an option email us and we’ll figure out how to get a digital version of the image. (And yes, we’ll even accept photos from after 2000.)
Check out our other Throwback Thursday posts here.
Thank you Trump for renovating and fixing the rink which the city could not do in 20 years. Now fix the country.
The rink will go bankrupt like he has the past 3 times.
The country will be dead after Trumps done sucking it dry.
FEEL THE BERN!
Yeah..it’s still Wollman Rink.(No worries) there is no legitimate authentic New Yorker that will refer to it as Tr*mp’s rink.
Just like it’s still the Triboro Bridge!
(Nothing against JFK..it’s just that it’s logical name for a logical bridge that connects the Three Boroughs – the name is the function. Great!)
I will never refer to it as Tr*mp’s rink.
