pepper lost

Pepper was last seen at 87th street and Columbus Avenue. There’s $500 in it for you if you can find the dog.

Thanks to Chantal and the Central Park Precinct for the notice.

I was driving this morning (7am) on the west side highway and onto the cross Bronx and saw a dog’s remains on the freeway that look like this dog.

I hope it isn’t Pepper you saw! I always wonder how dogs can go missing in a city like this given they are required to be on the leash most of the time. That said a few weeks ago I was in Central Park and a little dog off the leash ran away from its owner out of the park down 72nd. I was horrified. Thankfully the lady caught her dog. I have a dog and it was a good reminder that if your dog isn’t good off the leash keep it on the leash!

Unfortunately there are many other ways dogs can go missing: slips out of collar/ harness, broken equipment (I once had a leash snap break 1/2 block from west side highway, fortunately I was able to grab him). As well as so many other scenarios, my friends super once accidentally let the dog out when he went into the apt, it was a walk up and the front door was tied open. So while I agree, if a dog is not properly trained to be off leash, it shouldn’t be – but there are many other circumstances.

Wishing the best for Pepper and her family.

I used to live on 92nd and Riverside and I remember an elderly man walking a dog looking like this and I think his name was pepper. Does anyone know if the dog is owned by an elderly man who frequently walks around the west 90’s?

I have seen the owner walk the dog leashless before. I bet he got spooked and ran off. Sad story.

If this is legit, I do hope they find the dog. However, the timeline does not match up. I could swear I saw the lost signs up before Friday at noon. Also my husband saw the dog last week, leashless and alone. He thought it was lost then.

I think I know this dog. The owner has 2 of them; they look exactly alike. She lives on 86th Street & I have seen them off leash many times, for several years now. Feel bad for her,I have a dog too and would be devastated. Things do happen, but letting them loose to run from Columbus to Amsterdam is asking for trouble. Hope she finds him & he’s ok.

Too many people flout the leash laws. Dogs then poop wherever they want and owner is busy texting. When you alert them to this they get nasty. Leash your dogs & clean up. Just to be clear, I am a dog lover and have a dog myself.

I hate when I see people walking their dogs and focusing on their cell phones.
Here you have this wonderful time to be outside and enjoy the dog and so many people (not just young, but usually so) with their heads buried in their phones. I feel bad for the dogs that have to compete for attention from these mini-brained morons who don’t understand that their phones will be with them longer than their dogs will live.

Person doesn’t tell when Pepper waslost! this can be critical because it tells other people approx. where one might see the dog. My daughter and spouse lost their dog around the same area. We criss-crossed the local street, the WestSide Highway AND post photos on poles around area AND found the dog at the ASPCA/ O suggest. If your dog is alive and wandering, the ASPCA will find it. ACT quickly!
