Did you know that at City Conservatory, children who exhibit keen pitch recognition and an interest in music and performance will be prepared for the Metropolitan Opera Children’s Chorus auditions beginning at age 7? Luckily, we know what it takes! Children who exhibit a keen interest in ballet, will be prepared for auditions for the School of American Ballet and other prestigious pre-professional dance institutions, as our teachers have trained and performed with most. Children who exhibit a keen interest in theater will be referred to some of the top casting agencies in the city.
Our teachers are unparalleled and hail from the Met Opera to Carnegie Hall. Our curriculum is unique, and our classes allow children to blossom as creative, confident performing artists even in the earliest years. Our first theme of the semester will be Swan Lake, which we timed to complement New York City Ballet’s performance series. We encourage all of our students to attend a performance, so that they can bring their experience into the classroom to inspire their work! Fall semester: September 21st, 2015 – January 22nd, 2016.
Weekly 90 minute afternoon classes (3:30pm – 5:00pm): Best for ages 3.5 – 6 include: Dance (45 minutes), Theater (20 minutes), Music (25 minutes).
Weekly Half-day classes from 9:00am – 12:00pm: Best for ages 2.5 – 4 include story/circle time, 45 minute dance class, snack time, arts and crafts, 25 minute music class, theater and performance/rehearsal time.
