The West Side Rag got to be part of a happy reunion this month.
After we posted our “Throwback Thursday” story featuring a photo of a little girl named Simone Farber in Central Park around 1977, one of her teachers at Columbia Grammar recognized her. Second-grade teacher Patty Koenigsberg wrote “WOW! I spotted Simone immediately. I was her second grade teacher and hope we can touch base. I’d love to give her a hug!”
She got that hug when the two met up at Patty’s Upper West Side home earlier this month. Simone, now 47, lives in LA, but remembers her old teacher and the neighborhood fondly: “you’re always an Upper West Sider.”
Simone in the late 1970’s (she’s the one in the blue outfit and headband in the middle).
What a wonderful story!
Awww…..I love stories like this! Made me tear up a little.
I really love this publication more all the time.
Thanks
i have been trying to remember the name of a restaurant that was on Broadway and 84th street. The outside was brick that curved around the corner. There was glass bricks for windows. Inside, they made fresh pasta in front of a window.. There was a beautiful Leroy Neiman tiger print on the wall. If anyone remembers the name, please shoot me an email.. Thanks
