Miles Davis’ family will celebrate a street naming on the Upper West Side Monday with a block party. Miles Davis, who died in 1991, lived at 312 West 77th street for about 25 years, and the city agreed last year to name 77th between West End Avenue and Riverside Drive after the legendary jazz musician. So go pay your respects and meet the family on Monday from 12 to 2:30 p.m. It would have been Miles’ 88th birthday.

I lived in 310 W. 77th for many years. Miles Davis was a good neighbor. every now and then someone would use our roof to try to break into his house! Never a dull moment on the Upper West Side…
Thank you for highlighting this event. The block party was well attended on a beautiful day and it was a kick to hear the speeches by so many jazz musicians. Bravo to Miles’ neighbors and family for pushing the block name through.
