Alexander Imich and his Guinness Book of World Records certificate.

Upper West Sider Alexander Imich has triumphed in the most important game of all: living.

Imich, a 111-year-old Polish immigrant who now who lives at 305 West End Avenue is the oldest man alive, as certified by the Guinness Book of World Records. (Sixty-six women were older than him as of earlier this month, according to the New York Times.)

He’s also a professor of the occult. “How long can this go on?” he told the Times. “The compensation for dying is that I will learn all the things I was not able to learn here on Earth.”

So what’s Imich’s trick?

Don’t have kids.

Be active (he was a gymnast growing up).

Don’t drink alcohol.

Eat sparingly, but enjoy chocolate ice cream.

Mr. Imich has a remarkable life. He escaped from Poland to Russia with his wife during WW II. There he was a chemist and then captured and placed in a labor camp due to him refusing to accept Soviet citizenship. He then was freed and emigrated to the U.S. at the age of 53 (1952). His wife became a psychologist and he changed his career at the age of 63 to parapsychology. At the age of 92 he had a book published and at age 96 he founded his own research center. He is a fine example that no one is “too old” to try something new. One of the main things that allowed him to live this long is that he practices a restrictive diet and takes a lot of vitamins.

Shame that Broadway restaurant called “AGED” has closed.

It would have been a great place for him to have dinner.

My grandpa who lived to 101 also ate a healthy diet and exercised a lot. Maybe there is a point to this gym craze afterall…
Here is a video link to him on video. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2621334/111-year-old-New-Yorker-Alexander-Imich-oldest-man-world-admits-no-idea-hes-alive.html

Another reason is that he has a landlord that has not tortured him into an early grave.
