MAN, CHILD DIE AFTER LEAP FROM BUILDING ON 60TH

A man and a 3-year-old child died after the man jumped from a building at 124 west 60th street Sunday around noon.

Update: The man, 35-year-old Dimitry Kanarikov, apparently threw the boy off the roof of the 52-story building before jumping. Kanaerikov was involved in a bitter custody dispute with his estranged wife. He was from Brooklyn, and it wasn’t immediately clear why he had chosen to go to a building on the UWS, according to the Daily News. What an awful story.

Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
