BAREBURGER COMING TO COLUMBUS SQUARE

Some very highly rated “healthy” burgers are about to hit the Upper West Side.

Columbus Square, the glassy residential and commercial development between 97th and 100th streets, has all sorts of retail shops and supermarkets. But it doesn’t have any sit-down residents.

That will change soon, now that the restaurant chain Bareburger has signed a lease at 795 Columbus Avenue, adjacent to the Mandell School.

Bareburger started in Astoria in 2009 and it’s made a pretty strong name for itself, winning a New York Post Best Burger contest this year. “Cow not your thing? This local chain — it started in Astoria in 2009 — offers exotic patties like elk, ostrich, wild boar and quinoa,” the article said.

Here’s how Zagat describes it:

Rapidly expanding, this “special” burger chain focuses on “natural, organic” beef (plus elk, bison, ostrich and wild boar) with “delicious” results; maybe it’s “a bit expensive” for the genre, but in return “you get quality” and the satisfaction of eating “healthy.”

Check out the menu here.

The signing fills a big need for new restaurants in the area, the brokers said:

“We are very excited to welcome Bareburger to Columbus Square because there is such a strong need for concepts like theirs for Columbus Square residents, as well as residents of the surrounding area,” said Winick Realty Group broker Kelly Gedinsky, who represented landlord  795 Columbus Ave LLC along with Lori Shabtai. “The Upper West Side is also very health-oriented, which is a big component of Bareburger’s all-natural brand.”

Re: “But it doesn’t have any sit-down residents.”

Yup, understand the residents are all STAND-UP guys ‘n’ gals! Some are even stand-up comics. But others say they cannot stand that sort of humor. And then there are the scions of that early American family,……..the Standishes…but they often sit, as they do have Miles to go!!

We are stripping our food and soon we will go for “nothingburgers”. But, joke to the side..less or no meat in a diet is certainly the future that needs to start yesterday.

When are you opening? Can’t wait….. Wont be able too go often, as prices will probably be somewhat high for my pocketbook. The brunch prices are listed and look to be reasonable. Can’t resist treating myself as often as I possibly can. Looking forward to the opening and Best of Luck…..

Hey – an update on when this will be opening? I walk by all the time and it doesn’t seem like much progress. 🙁
