EL MITOTE AND TWO OTHER RESTAURANTS OPEN

El Mitote, which replaced Rigoletto on 69th Street and Columbus Avenue, opened its doors today. The restaurant serves a full menu of Mexican food and drinks, including margaritas and beers.

The menu has tortas, which are traditional Mexican sandwiches; molettes, which are open-faced sandwiches; salads; and side dishes like guacamole and chips. the interior still looks a lot like Rigoletto, which used to occupy the space (Rigoletto is reopening on 72nd Street just West of Columbus). The company also delivers between 60th and 82nd Streets as long as you buy at least $15 worth of food. We’ve posted the full menu below (click to enlarge).

in fact, three of the 10 restaurants we previewed a few weeks ago have now opened.

Curry King on 106th and Columbus, opened this weekend. The owner could not send us a menu, but said they’re serving Indian food and “Indian-style” Chinese food. And it’s open until 3 a.m. every night. Columbia students, anyone?

American Table Cafe and Bar by Marcus Samuelsson opened about a week ago inside Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall. The food is mostly lighter — sandwiches and salads, as well as special items like lobster rolls. There’s also a wine and beer list. See the full menu here.

Thanks to Bharoules for the tip.

I enjoy good food – Citron is one of my favorites, along with B Cafe – but all this new restaurant stuff is getting a little boring.

If rents weren’t so high on the West Side we wouldn’t need to have all these new restaurants opening all the time.

Let’s see what happens with this one. Bets are that the Mexican food cart near Broadway and 70th Street has better Mexican food.

Oct. 19th – CURRY KING please post a menu on-line ASAP. Hope you’re good. This neighborhood needs a good Indian Restaurant.
