Numero 28 Cucina, a restaurant chain with locations in other parts of the city, just opened this weekend at 660 Amsterdam Avenue near 92nd Street. The restaurant is known for its pizza, but this location will have a wider array of entrees too from chef Philip Guardione, a native Sicilian who is the chef at Piccola Cucina in Soho. It will eventually have gluten-free pizzas, although those aren’t available yet.
On the same block, Mike’s Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen, a Kosher pizza restaurant, has closed to make way for a burger joint, Koshertopia first reported. The owners will open the burger spot in a few months. “The departure of Mike’s Pizza leaves very limited options on the UWS for a kosher slice of pizza,” Koshertopia notes.
Thanks to Daren for the tip, and Malcolm Carter for the photo.

$35.00 for pizza…….i think i’ll pass
Well said Bill. It is just amazing to me that places open and try to charge these kinds of prices. This is a family neighborhood! Unreal. We stopped by yesterday, looked at the menu, and walked out. No thanks!
Are you kidding? They’ll clean up! There are so many now in this neighborhood who *adore* the Emperor’s new clothes. Just look at the hordes who flock to pay fifteen bucks for a mediocre hamburger and cup of Mickey D fries at Five Napkin when better is available cheaper in any number of nearby, but not as chi-chi, places.
Why drive a Toyota when you can afford to drive a Mercedes? Why spend fifteen bucks on a pizza when you can be seen spending 35?
35$ is a pizza for 4 people. -___-
