September 11, 2012 Weather: Partly Cloudy, High of 73 Degrees.

Notices:
We’ve listed events today commemorating 9/11, as well as more events on our calendar.

News:
Seven surrealist sculptures have been placed on the Broadway median, replacing Peter Woytuk’s delicately balanced sculptures of birds and other animals. The new sculptures are at 57th, 62nd, 72nd, 73rd, 79th, 117th and 157th streets. (DNAinfo)

There are college students who attend universities but never go to class. And then there’s Birva Patel, who was not a Columbia student, but attended classes nonetheless under the name “Rhea Sen.” She just got arrested after allegedly continuing the ruse for 9 months.“She just had this weird vibe,” said Anna Prouty, BC ’14, who met Patel at UNI Café in April. “I love awkward people—I’m kind of awkward—but it wasn’t like that. It was, ‘Hi, can I hang out with you?’” (Columbia Spectator)

A year ago, Citarella built an American flag out of squid, shrimp, and starfish to commemorate 9/11.

Sorry Lisa, didn’t get the info. We don’t always check on the cause if a crash doesn’t appear to have resulted in injuries.
