July 18, 2012 Weather: Scattered Thunderstorms, High of 96 Degrees.

Notices:
Tonight, check out a free movie in Riverside Park, a Town Hall meeting and other events on our calendar.

News:
A construction worker fell down an elevator shaft at Fordham’s Lincoln Square site, and was listed in critical condition. (DNAinfo)

Maoz Vegetarian opened a restaurant window in Central park at the Harlem Meer, just off of the Conservatory Garden. “The new stand also offer a few unique treats that you won’t find at their other locations like iced coffee, muffins and brownies. [I]t’s a perfect spot to grab a sandwich, snag a seat on one of the many benches and enjoy this lovely section of Central Park. The stand is open from 9:30 AM to 6 PM.” (Zagat)

Speaking of veggie, Jacques Torres added veggie ice cream & sorbet to its seasonal menu. (Gothamist)

The New York Times walked the streets trying to find Upper West Side style. “People said we couldn’t find someone stylish on the Upper West Side.” But they did. If you’re looking for the best take on local fashion, check out our columnist Cheryl Wischhover’s Upper West Side Style blog. (NY Times)

Please limit comments to 150 words and keep them civil and relevant to the article at hand. Comments are closed after six days. Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
