The weather people say this will be a stunningly gorgeous weekend, and there are tons of events going on. Here are a few of them:

Fix Up the 105th Street Dog Run: A group of Upper West Siders has committed to  restoring the 105th Street dog run in Riverside Park, and they’ll be gathering on Saturday to start the process. From 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., the volunteers will work to create a dog run that fluffy can truly be proud of:

“This dog run is entirely dependent on the efforts of local dog owners and park lovers for its care and support. Please give a few hours of your time to help care for this great neighborhood resource. We can’t do it without your help!”

Greek Festival: Annunciation Church is holding a Greek Festival on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the church on the corner of 91st Street and West End Avenue. “Along with amazing Greek food and wine, our guests and neighbors will enjoy live Greek music, dancing, an amazing kid’s corner with tons of arts and crafts, and a live performance by Stelios Dionisiou, a world-renowned Greek singer,” Fr Nathanael emailed to us. The live music and dancing goes on from 5 to 7 p.m.

Mamapalooza: On Sunday from 1 to 5, it’s Mamapalooza at Pier 1 in Riverside Park on 70th Street! “Moms Rock! Celebrate mothers and the people who love them at our annual music and art-filled afternoon featuring mom bands, an especially fabulous lady emcee, as well as a Gymboree Play Tent, arts & crafts, eco-environmental information, food, vendors, interactive fun, and more!”

Manhattan Valley Family Day: On Sunday a kind of non-corporate street fair will take over Amsterdam Avenue between 106th and 110th Streets from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Free activities include: “Art Projects;  Live Music; Dominoes; Dance, Karate, & Tai Chi Lessons;  Domesticated Pigeons;  Fire Truck; Face Painting; Pottery Wheel; Help Create Songlines for West Side Streets; Bike Lessons; E-waste Recycling, and more!” Also this: “Restaurants are offering additional sidewalk seating and service; cafe tables and chairs will be scattered along the avenue.”

Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
