WEEKEND BULLETIN: THE CITY’S LARGEST OPEN HOUSE

Fall weather is here — it’s supposed to be really windy today and then cool but sunny on Sunday. There are fairs and other outdoor events going on in the neighborhood. Wear a sweater! It will make your mother happy.

The photo above of Belvedere Castle in Central Park is by Upper West Sider Amy Aglar.

If you do one thing outside this weekend…

Take an architectural tour through Open House New York, a series of tours that will be happening all over the city, giving people special free access to some of New York’s nooks and crannies, including many tours on the Upper West Side. For a funny story about last year’s events, see this post from our pal City Girl Writes.

If you do one thing inside this weekend…

Listen to tango music sung in Spanish, English and Russian at El Taller Latino (2710 Broadway) at 7 p.m. on Saturday night.

For more great local events, check out our weekly calendar.

If you’re traveling…

Check traffic info at traffic.com for delays. As for the subway, the MTA has a map detailing all of the weekend changes; it looks like the 2 and 3 are not going to Brooklyn, so you have to switch to the 4 and 5 once you get downtown.

Please limit comments to 150 words and keep them civil and relevant to the article at hand. Comments are closed after six days. Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
