MORNING BULLETIN: SCARJO HAS A CRUSH ON THE BORO PRESIDENT

October 4, 2011 Weather: Showers, High of 63 Degrees.

News:
Scarlett Johansson hosted a fundraiser for Borough President (and mayoral candidate) Scott Stringer at the Plaza. I particularly like this line: “After more than an hour inside the tony Central Park South hotel, Johansson and Stringer, who share an interest in environmental issues, drove off in a Yukon hybrid SUV.” Oooh, scandal! No no, the two were going to another fundraiser…supposedly. (DNAinfo)

Another water main broke on 82nd Street, sending a river of water down the street. Crews worked into the night to try to fix it. The street was similarly flooded back in July. I’m sensing a trend here… (Thanks to @tovahgo and @anjalimullany)

A five-story mega-mansion on the corner of 85th Street and Central Park West overlooking the park just hit the market for a cool $30 million. That’s twice as much as it sold for five years ago. What recession? (Curbed)

Captain Christopher McCormack, the commanding officer of the 20th precinct, has been promoted and transferred to the South Bronx. McCormack got high marks from many Upper West Siders and was considered attentive to neighborhood problems. (West Side Spirit)
