News:
Actor and Upper West Sider Matt Dillon complained earlier this year that Calle Ocho, a Latin-themed restaurant relocating to 45 West 81st Street from a couple of blocks away, was too loud and boisterous for the neighborhood. On Tuesday night, the restaurant agreed to numerous concessions in order to get a liquor license. It can’t pump music outside and will have to remind customers to keep it down as they exit the establishment. Is the guy from “Wild Things” really asking people to tone it down? (DNAinfo)

George Lang, who owned Cafe Des Artistes died on Tuesday night. (Eater)

The Upper East Side will get a little taste of the Upper West on July 20 when its first Fairway opens. (DNAinfo)

Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
