In Ultimate Show of Patriotism, 2 Bald Eagles Fly Over UWS Before Military Flyover

Two bald eagles who apparently wanted to upstage a military flyover drifted over the UWS prior to the big show on Tuesday.

Phillip Hess took the photos below of the eagles and then the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels that flew overhead afterwards from his roof. Several other people sent awesome photos and videos too.

The soaring of an Eagle inspires awe.

Eagle is man’s connection to the divine because it flies higher than any other bird. From high above, the Eagle symbolizes an awareness of those mysteries that humans find difficult to grasp.

The Eagle can watch over us as a guardian, bear messages to and from the Divine, inspire insight, manifest well-being, and offer us wisdom.

Both Egyptians and Native Americans regard the Eagle as symbolizing the Great Spirit and the sun at noon!

If an eagle appears, it symbolizes ahead the importance of honesty and truthful principles.

Eagle puts you on notice that the winds of change are headed your way.

Some type of rebirth or renewal is about to happen, and the Eagle prepares you for that change by showing you how to tap your inner strength and fortitude. Stand up tall, wrap courage around your waist, and stay true to yourself.

We must be willing to get a little scorched if we are to achieve greatness.

~~~Thoughts around the Internet about the Eagle.
Sorry to break it to the patriot below, but the Eagle does NOT fly “higher than any other bird.” Vultures are actually the highest flying birds, by much more than Eagles (which actually don’t even come close). Vultures have been seen from airplanes! So yeah, talk about symbolism.
For me the Eagles completely upstage the warplanes. I’m thrilled with the photograph; for me it seems to have, in addition to Nature’s grandeur, a symbolic significance.
The winds of change are buffeting us. I hope they will bring about some positive changes & a return to more respect for Nature.
Thank you for your kindness.
It is all about getting back into balance and harmony with the Earth and our own individual nature. Self-care, patience, gratitude, compassion, forgiveness, lack of greed, work as in service of others first and foremost.
And it’s Spring to boot! How has that been lost in all of this? This entire scene is playing out against the backdrop of the natural order of the seasons– rebirth!
Thank you!
Yes I saw them too. Just wrote about them in response to your bird article. So pleased that others have seen them.
There has been a solo one in the neighborhood for a couple of weeks. But today—a pair!
What a huge waste of money this was. It so could have been used for the equipment and protective gear we need so desperately here in NYC. As New Yorkers, we come out every night and make a large noise to show our thanks. And when we pass people who are delivering or workers in the stores or if we have to go to the hospital, we say hello and thanks. False, flashy things like this are an insult.
Agree completely with Lisa. It’s great to have a thrilling spectacle, but is this really the best use of millions of tax-payer dollars? How about money for PPE or food to foodbanks or aid for those very small businesses who got cut out of the very unfair distribution of federal funds?
Love our UWS spirit. We do all the things you say and tip the supermarket and delivery people too as I saw suggested on WS Rag. Let’s keep being nice to each other in the park, at stores and on the street. Let’s keep helping our neighbors and bring generous with space as we navigate our streets. Let’s not forget the big picture: we need better government. So disappointed to see Cuomo criticizing the media today. He came late to the party and should not shoot the messenger which was there before him.
Cheap patriotism while our failed healthcare system starves for resources. It’s like, hey we couldn’t manage good healthcare but look at these fancy places we paid for instead.
