Landmark West! is hosting a special celebration on Monday night to honor some of the Upper West Side ‘unsung heroes’, including businesses that have served the neighborhood for decades.

At a ceremonial reception at Tavern on the Green, the preservationist group will give awards to 19 businesses. Pulitzer-Prize-winning New York magazine critic Justin Davidson is the master of ceremonies.

“‘Unsung Heroes’ reflects LW!’s own mission by celebrating the people, places, and preservation efforts that protect our neighborhood’s wonderful character, spirit, and quality of life,” said Kate Wood, President of Landmark West!. “As in years past, we are thrilled to honor passionate community leaders who fly below the radar yet accomplish great things. This year’s honorees are neighborhood institutions that have persisted and persevered against tremendous challenges, such as skyrocketing rents and development pressure. Their heroic commitment deserves all the attention, praise, and action we can muster.”
